The Dewalt oscillating multitool is one of those tools you didn't know you needed until after you bought it and discovered how incredible versatile it is.
The multitool measures roughly 12.25" tall, and the base is 4.5" L x 3" W, and weighs about 4 pounds with the battery. Dewalt says it's variable speed, but there's no high/low setting - the variable speed is controlled by how hard you press the trigger. There's a trigger lock, a work light that stays on for 20 seconds after the trigger is released, and installing and removing the cutting blade is easy thanks to the tool-less clamp lever.
There are many multitool blades on the market besides the Dewalt that fir the tool, and here are a few of the blades we've tried so far: Craftsman,HyperTough (Walmart's brand), and Rockwell.
The Dewalt oscillating multitool comes with a 3-year limited warranty and a 1-year free service contract, along with a 90-day money back guarantee.
We had a job to re-side a garage recently and there was a small bump-out attached to the garage. Whoever built it left the ridge board (just a 2x4) sticking out on both ends, then sided around it.
A sawzall with a short blade could've worked, but the width of the sawzall body would've prevented a neat, flush cut. The multitool ate right through it.
You'd never know that block of wood was there.
The Dewalt multitool comes either as a bare tool or as a kit. The kit we bought included the multitool, charger (DCB107), 1.5Ah battery, accessory adapter and two blades. This Amazon listing is for the bare tool, and this listing is for the Dewalt multitool kit.
Here's a basic unboxing video along with a few examples of the multitool at work:
